The subway stopped suddenly inside the tunnel. The first thing I heard was the loud screeching noise of the train stopping, and the annoyed grumbles of the other people on the train, I felt like grumbling, too. I was looking forward to meeting my friends in New York, but it was already getting dark, and the train didn't seem like it wanted to start up again. I was thinking of calling my friends and telling them that I would be late when the loudspeaker blared: " Attention, all passengers. Please stay calm. We are -" Silence.

"What's going on? " I asked a portly man next to me, but he just shrugged, confused. I looked around, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. I sat back in my seat and had almost convinced myself that it was just a small problem with the train when I realized that the train was so quiet. I looked around and saw that everyone had vanished. I looked down I was fading, too, I already couldn't see my legs! I tried to yell, but I was gone.

I woke up, panicked, and sat straight up, was it just a dream? Could it possibly be? I looked down. I certainly wasn't faded - I could see my legs. Suddenly - GROWLLL! I heard a terrifying sound next to me! "AAAAH!" I screamed, jumping out of my seat. The dream WAS real! I thought!

"I'm sorry! " said the portly man next to me. "That was my stomach - I didn't have lunch!" I sank back into my seat, relieved, when I realized that I never had a portly man sitting next to me when I was on the train! I only had a portly man sitting next to me in the dream! I pinched myself. "Ow!" I looked to the right - he was right there! So was the dream ... real? Suddenly I heard a loud screeching noise.
