Why Do I Write...

We live in a world that is fast-paced, leaving us no time to stand and stare. My school, basketball practice, leadership club, homework and the eternal chaos surrounding them leave me just enough time to breathe, eat and sleep. What I crave is a moment of solitude that helps my brain rearrange my thoughts and bring out my creativity. Writing gives me that much-needed break much like the first raindrops on the parched ground.

When I write fiction, I travel to far-away places that are magical and limited only by my imagination. The moment I hold my pen, I immediately begin to unwind. It is as if my stress flows out as ink from my pen. The characters I create become my best friends with whom I can share my thoughts and through them show the world, the spark of creativity that hides beneath the mathematics equations and formulas in my brain.

I write to express my opinions, my beliefs and to share my wildest ideas with the world. In fact, for me, writing is synonymous with living. Without writing life would be dreary and repetitive, almost like the Groundhog Day movie. So “Why do you write?” you ask, my reply would be, “I write, therefore I am.”
